UBS Warburg Brings MOUSE Squad to Connecticut Schools; Launch Scheduled for Fall 2003
April 28, 2003—New York, NY—UBS Warburg has joined forces with the non-profit organization MOUSE (Making Opportunities for Upgrading Schools and Education) to bring technology training to students in the Stamford, Conn., public school system.
With a $20,000 grant from UBS Warburg, this program of students working in "MOUSE Squads" will be launched in three schools starting in September. Plans for growth within Connecticut include expansion to 10 schools during the 2004-2005 school year.
"Currently, there are MOUSE Squads operating in 35 New York City public schools across all five boroughs. We look forward to the opportunity to bring the program to Connecticut," said MOUSE’s Managing Director Calvin Hastings.

The MOUSE Squad program trains students to operate technical helpdesks in their schools, based on the standard industry helpdesk model. Students receive training through a series of technical and logistical workshops and ongoing career development through field experiences and shadowships with local business partners. On average, MOUSE Squads provide their schools with 25 hours of weekly technical support, ensuring a greater level of access to technology for both students and faculty.
UBS Warburg is committed to improving the quality of life in its surrounding neighborhoods and has reached out in support of grassroots efforts to fortify the local community in Stamford, home to its U.S. headquarters. The primary goal in partnering with MOUSE is to advocate the effective use of technology in education and to encourage career development for students.
